PacBio Sequel machine

PacBio Sequel utilizes the Single Molecule Real Time Sequencing (SMRT) technology which provides high sensitivity, high throughput and fast turnaround times. With longest reads spanning up to 70 Kb, it is suitable for all types of de novo genome sequencing and analysis of structural variation. Other typical applications include metabarcode studies and pooled amplicons, as sequencing bias toward shorter fragments is low. Since no amplification is required prior to sequencing, methylations in genomic DNA can be detected by analyzing interpulse duration times.

Sequel II is the new, upgraded version of the Sequel instrument, and produces at least 5 times more data. The main feature of Sequel II is the optional HiFi mode, which produces a higher quality of reads, thus reducing the need for coverage. The main advantages of the HiFi reads is to generate high-quality de novo assemblies and to resolve structural variants.

Oxford Nanopore

Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) has developed a sequencing method where nucleic acid strands pass through nanosized pores embedded in a membrane, over which a current is applied. The resulting base-characteristic changes in current through the pores are detected and translated into base sequences. This provides the opportunity to produce Megabase reads, with base modification traces preserved. The ultra long reads and the high throughput makes nanopore sequencing well suited for, e.g., de novo assembly of complex genomes, structural variation detection, and barcoded or targeted applications.

ONT also provides the unique feature of direct RNA sequencing, which opens the possibility to detect base modifications on the native RNA strand.

We provide ONT as a service on the smallest throughput flongle, the medium throughput MinION, and the ultra-high throughput PromtethION systems.

Ion S5

Ion S5 Machine

The Ion S5TM XL is a high throughput sequencer that combines and upgrades characteristics of Ion PGM and Ion Proton (now discontinued at UGC). It produces read lengths up to 600 bp. Typical applications include AmpliSeq Transcriptome workflow for human and mouse genomes, as well as for other types of clinical research with a variety of gene and disease panels.
